Exam Fee Waivers

2 min read Reviewed May 3, 2026

Candidates receiving certain public benefits may qualify for a fee waiver — DCAS verifies.

This explains the Apply step of your civil service journey.

The application fee can be waived if you are receiving certain public assistance benefits at the time you apply. In OASys you indicate that you're requesting a waiver; you do not upload benefit IDs or medical proof in this app — DCAS verifies eligibility directly through the official system. Any waiver amount shown here is an unofficial estimate. If your waiver is approved you won't be charged; if it's denied, you'll be told how to pay so your application still counts.

This guide is informational and is not legal advice. For a determination about your specific situation, contact DCAS or submit an inquiry.
